A single consecrated life journey

Jackie and Bishop Tim, Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Sheffield

Jackie's Story

"My name is Jackie Robson and I have been part of the Cathedral community for about 10 years with a break to live in Religious community to test a vocation to that life. I realised after living in 2 communities that it wasn’t right for me and then I heard about Single Consecrated Life and began to explore whether it would be right for me.

I took my first vow of consecrated celibacy on Sunday 19th June and this will commit me to living a life of prayer and of simplicity and also obedience to God’s will. It is a form of Religious Life that can be lived out in your own home and it means that I am vowing to live for Christ alone and to belong to only Him and also to give myself to the Church.

I have felt called to give my life completely to Christ and serve the church for at least the last 18 years and I finally feel this is the next step on that journey and if it still feels right then I will take my final vows in 2 years time."
